We are looking for Radiation Safety Officer candidates for a project delivered through Mercor.
What you'll do
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in your domain, labelled across three levels: benign, dual-use, and adversarial.
- Evaluate the responses that come back against a defined policy standard, and judge whether each was handled correctly.
- Write the reference answer — what a correct response looks like, and the technical reasoning for why.
What you need
- Must have held the licence, not just worked under it — the person of record for acquisition, inventory, transfer and disposal.
- Must be able to tell a routine professional question from one that's fishing for something else.
- Must be able to write prompts that sit exactly on the line between legitimate and misuse, then judge whether the model held it.
- Must not draw on, classified or export-controlled information, or anything covered by an NDA or prepublication review obligation.
Nice to have
- Red-teaming experience.
- Experience as Named RSO on a broad-scope licence — programme management, source inventory, regulatory compliance.
- Experience as RSO or deputy RSO at a university, hospital or research institute running a mixed radionuclide and sealed-source programme.
- Experience as Industrial or irradiator RSO — Category 1 and 2 sealed sources, radiography, gauging, sterilisation.
- Experience as a Licensing and compliance specialist — NRC, Agreement State or national regulator submissions, amendments and inspections.
- Experience as a Radiation protection manager accountable for ALARA, audits, training and incident reporting across multiple authorised users.
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience.
